Authenticator App for Workday: How to Set Up and Fix MFA Codes

workday.com ↗

A Workday authenticator app can generate a temporary verification code when your Workday account requires multi-factor authentication (MFA).

However, Workday authentication is configured by each organization. Your employer may use a TOTP authenticator app, Duo, SMS, email verification, single sign-on, or another security method.

If your Workday login specifically asks you to connect an authenticator app or displays a QR code, you can scan that code with a compatible authenticator and use the generated 6-digit code to complete verification.

Does Workday Support Authenticator Apps?

Yes. Workday supports authenticator apps as one of its MFA options.

Workday supports time-based one-time password authentication, commonly called TOTP. With this method, an authenticator generates a temporary code that changes automatically after a short period.

A typical Workday authentication flow is:

Username or email → Password → Authenticator code → Workday account

But your actual login may look different because the company that manages your Workday account controls the authentication policy.

For example, one employer may require an authenticator app, while another may use Microsoft Entra ID, Okta, Duo, SMS, or another single sign-on provider.

Workday Central Login vs Your Employer’s Workday Login

This distinction matters.

Workday Central Login is a Workday-managed identity system that can be used to access supported Workday products and applications.

An employee Workday account, however, normally belongs to a specific organization’s Workday tenant.

That means these two users might have completely different MFA experiences:

Account type Authentication may be managed by
Workday Central Login Workday
Employee Workday account Employer / organization
Workday through SSO Company’s identity provider
Workday VNDLY VNDLY authentication configuration

So if you cannot find the same security menu described by another Workday user, that does not necessarily mean something is wrong with your account.

Your organization may simply use a different authentication configuration.

How to Set Up a Workday Authenticator App

If your Workday account displays an authenticator setup option, follow the instructions shown for your account.

The general process is:

Step 1: Start Workday MFA Setup

Sign in to the Workday account or Workday Central Login account provided by your organization.

If MFA enrollment is required, Workday may automatically show the authentication setup screen.

Otherwise, open the security or authentication settings available to your account.

Step 2: Choose Authenticator App

Select the option for an Authenticator App if it is available.

Workday will display a QR code used to connect your account with the authenticator.

Do not scan a Workday QR code found on another website, screenshot, or forum. The QR code must be generated specifically for your account.

Step 3: Open Authenticator App by Begamob

Open Authenticator App by Begamob on your phone.

Choose the option to add a new account and scan a QR code.

Point the camera at the QR code displayed by Workday.

Once the account is added, the authenticator should begin generating temporary verification codes.

Step 4: Enter the 6-Digit Workday Code

Return to Workday.

Enter the current 6-digit code shown in your authenticator.

If the code is about to expire, wait for the next one before submitting it.

Step 5: Complete the Setup

After Workday accepts the code, finish the enrollment process.

Your authenticator is now associated with that Workday account.

When Workday requires MFA during future logins, open your authenticator and enter the current code.

Using Authenticator App by Begamob With Workday

Authenticator App by Begamob can manage compatible TOTP codes when Workday or your employer provides an authenticator QR code.

The setup flow is:

Workday → MFA setup → Authenticator App → Scan QR code → Enter 6-digit code → Confirm

The most important rule is to start from Workday first.

Do not manually create a random Workday entry inside your authenticator. Without the unique setup secret generated for your account, the codes will not match.
