Authenticator App for Call of Duty: Set Up Activision 2FA
callofduty.com ↗A Call of Duty authenticator app helps protect the Activision account you use for Call of Duty by adding a second verification step to your login.
Call of Duty does not have a separate authenticator system for each game. Two-factor authentication is managed through your Activision account.
Once 2FA is enabled, you enter your normal email address and password, then provide a temporary 6-digit security code generated by your authenticator app.
Activision also gives you backup codes that can be used if you lose access to the authenticator.
Does Call of Duty Support an Authenticator App?
Yes.
Activision supports authenticator-based two-factor authentication for Activision accounts used with Call of Duty.
Activision officially lists authenticator apps such as:
- Google Authenticator
- Microsoft Authenticator
- Authy
- Duo Mobile
During setup, Activision provides the information needed to add your account to the authenticator.
After enrollment, the app generates a temporary 6-digit authentication code whenever you need to complete 2FA.
The important distinction is:
Call of Duty account security → Activision Account 2FA
You do not configure a separate authenticator inside Warzone, Black Ops, Modern Warfare, or another individual Call of Duty title.
How to Set Up a Call of Duty Authenticator App
The authenticator is configured from your Activision Account security settings.
Step 1: Sign In to Your Activision Account
Sign in to the Activision account connected to your Call of Duty profile.
Before continuing, make sure you are using the correct Activision account, especially if you have more than one gaming-platform account.
Step 2: Open Privacy & Security
Open your Activision Account settings and go to:
Privacy & Security → Two-Factor Authentication
Find the Authenticator App option and choose Enable.
Activision may first ask you to verify ownership of the account.
If that happens, request the verification code and check the email address registered to your Activision account.
Enter the code from the email to continue.
Step 3: Open Your Authenticator App
Once Activision begins the 2FA setup, open your authenticator app.
Choose the option to add a new account.
Depending on the app, you may be able to:
- scan the QR code displayed by Activision; or
- enter the setup information manually.
Use only the QR code or setup key displayed for your own Activision account.
Step 4: Add the Activision Account
Scan the QR code displayed during Activision’s 2FA setup.
The authenticator should create an entry labeled for Activision and begin generating temporary codes.
Do not manually create a random “Call of Duty” or “Activision” entry without the setup information from Activision.
The authenticator needs the unique secret associated with your account.
Step 5: Enter the 6-Digit Code
Return to the Activision Account page.
Enter:
- your Activision account password;
- the current 6-digit authentication code generated by the app.
Then select Activate.
If Activision accepts the code, two-factor authentication is enabled.
