Authenticator App for Hyatt Authenticator App: 2FA, Passkeys & Secure Sign-In
hyatt.com ↗If you are trying to add your World of Hyatt account to an authenticator app, you may notice something unusual: Hyatt’s current consumer sign-in flow focuses on passkeys, email sign-in links, and passwords rather than a standard TOTP authenticator setup.
That means you may not find the familiar QR code used by apps such as Google Authenticator, Microsoft Authenticator, or Authenticator ℠ App.
Here is how Hyatt account security currently works and what you can use instead.
Does Hyatt Support an Authenticator App?
For standard World of Hyatt accounts, Hyatt’s current public sign-in pages do not show a dedicated TOTP authenticator-app option.
A typical TOTP setup would require Hyatt to provide:
- An authenticator-app option in security settings
- A QR code or secret key
- A six-digit verification step to finish enrollment
If your Hyatt account does not display these options, you cannot simply create a Hyatt entry in an authenticator app manually.
Authenticator apps need a secret generated by the service itself before they can create valid login codes.
How Can You Sign In to World of Hyatt?
Hyatt currently provides several ways to access a World of Hyatt account.
Sign in with email
Hyatt can send a one-time sign-in link to your registered email address.
Enter your email on the Hyatt sign-in page and, if the information matches Hyatt’s records, Hyatt sends a temporary link to your inbox.
Open that link to continue signing in.
This method can be useful when you do not want to enter your password or have temporarily forgotten it.
Sign in with your password
You can also use the traditional World of Hyatt login.
Depending on the login flow, Hyatt may ask for:
- Membership number or username
- Last name
- Password
Hyatt notes that providing your last name adds another layer of protection to the account.
Sign in with a passkey
One of the more distinctive security options available on Hyatt is passkey authentication.
A passkey lets you authenticate using the security built into your device rather than typing your account password each time.
Depending on your device, this might involve:
- Face recognition
- Fingerprint verification
- Device PIN
- Another secure device credential
Hyatt states that biometric information used for passkey authentication remains on the user’s device and is not collected by Hyatt.
Hyatt Passkey vs Authenticator App
Passkeys and authenticator apps both improve account security, but they work differently.
An authenticator app usually generates a temporary six-digit TOTP code every 30 seconds.
A passkey uses cryptographic credentials stored securely on your device.
With a traditional authenticator login, the process might look like:
Password → Enter six-digit authenticator code
With a Hyatt passkey, the process is closer to:
Choose passkey → Confirm identity on your device → Sign in
For World of Hyatt users, the second workflow is currently more relevant because Hyatt actively provides passkey functionality in its consumer login experience.
How to Set Up a Hyatt Passkey
If passkeys are available for your account and device, first sign in to World of Hyatt.
Then open your account’s Profile & Preferences area and look for the option to configure a passkey.
Follow the prompts on your phone, computer, or password manager.
Your device may ask you to confirm the setup using Face ID, Touch ID, fingerprint recognition, a PIN, or another local authentication method.
Once configured, you can use the passkey as an alternative sign-in method on supported devices.
Can You Add Hyatt to Authenticator ℠ App?
You should only add a service to Authenticator ℠ App when that service provides a compatible TOTP QR code or setup key.
If World of Hyatt does not show an authenticator-app setup option, do not create a manual Hyatt entry or scan an unrelated Hyatt QR code.
QR codes used for reservations, hotel services, promotions, loyalty features, or payments are not authenticator setup codes.
Authenticator ℠ App can still be used for other online accounts that officially support TOTP authentication.
What If Your Hyatt Email Sign-In Link Does Not Arrive?
Hyatt recommends checking your inbox and spam folder first.
If the email is still missing:
- Confirm that you entered the email associated with your World of Hyatt account.
- Wait a few minutes for the message to arrive.
- Check your spam or junk folder.
- Request the sign-in link again.
- Try signing in with your password instead.
Repeated sign-in attempts may temporarily trigger limits, so avoid continuously requesting new links.
What If Your Hyatt Passkey Does Not Work?
Passkey problems can happen when you change devices, disable biometric authentication, switch password managers, or attempt to log in from a device that does not have access to your stored passkey.
If Hyatt cannot authenticate your passkey, choose another available sign-in method.
For example, you can switch to:
Email sign-in → Password sign-in → Account recovery
Once you regain access, review your profile settings and create a new passkey if necessary.
